Is your spirit driving your business?

Truly fulfilling work is a spiritual endeavour, it commands us into a work philosophy of collaboration and reciprocity and opens a different level of potential.

The modern-day business and working dynamics are revealing to us one thing for sure - that people want to connect, to share and collaborate. Not only the sharing of creative resources but also to share skills and knowledge. What we are experiencing is an evolution in thinking and co-operation. We are seeing increasing numbers of people coming together in order to fulfil a common purpose, achieve a common goal, and progress their business endeavours as a result.

This is a good thing in so many ways because in business, people need support. This is particularly so if your dream and vision is something whereby you step into a self-employed, entrepreneurial role. It’s a big step to suddenly be on your own with something, being the driver and creator of your own vision. It can be a challenge to self-maintain and self-sustain when you are responsible for all the many facets of your own business. It can seem like a daunting step.

Not many people have training in the wide variety of different aspects of business, processes and services. There is a tremendous amount to learn. The key to emerging through that is the support, co-operation and collaboration you share with others around you. In this fast paced world, it is becoming very clear that our support networks are what helps everything remain buoyant.

Reciprocity - the collaborative key

If you actively align yourself to the philosophy of reciprocity, then as others support you in your journey and vision, you in return will do the same. Developing a successful work philosophy is crucial to the potential and gains of a co-operative and sharing dynamic. You may be an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and a mapped out path to move forward, but the way to achieve that is through people connectivity. By discovering and acknowledging the needs and skills of all involved, we can share the journey and collaboratively support each other towards greater success.

Within the flow of your working week, allocating some time where you just step out and be of assistance to someone else is part of the reciprocity philosophy. This action is not directly for the purpose of your own mainstream work functions. It is intentionally in regard to what you can do for others - purely as an action of kindness to help them on their way.

Receiving as a conscious and mindful intent

If the old adage is correct, that what goes around comes around, then when you find yourself in need of support and assistance, someone will be there to offer it to you. The matter then becomes whether you are able to receive. So many independently minded and spirited people don’t know how to receive. They know how to contribute, they know how to provide. But they very often don’t know how to receive in return. And the energy of the reciprocity philosophy - ‘what goes around, comes around’ - needs that two-way flow.

Co-operation and collaboration are based on the fundamental principles of tolerance, goodwill and acceptance of each other. Learning how to be with each other in a space that adds value and enhances all involved. Those are spiritual philosophies of being together and present in the world in order to make things happen for good serving reason. Together we head towards a greater goal, a mutually beneficial and serving outcome.

If you see each working day as a spiritual endeavour, then you will be putting your heart into things, and applying your higher virtues of tolerance and goodwill. That leads towards the community connection that we all need, in order to make business successful, improve society, and generate a prosperous and well-balanced nation that provides a bright future for all.
